As the customer, you’ll be finalizing all color selections and we are here to make sure you have all the necessary information to make informative decisions.  Below are some examples to take into consideration that will assist you in avoiding costly color mistakes.

  Different light sources can result in different effects.  Light from a tungsten light bulb has more yellow content, while light from a fluorescent lamp has more blue content.

     Paint finishes can affect color appearance. 

   Colors that appear the same under one type of lighting can respond differently under another.   It is essential to view desired colors under the conditions in which they will be used.  The larger the test-patch the better.

   View paint samples under a variety of lighting sources.  Test all indoors and outdoor colors within the parameters for which they are indented to be used.  Light can affect the way a color appears depending on the direction of the light source.

   Testing paint color in the location where it will be used by buying small samples of color and painting poster boards is the most efficient method of comparison with all design elements in consideration.  This will allow you to move the boards easily from room to room, ceiling verses wall, from well lit rooms to low light situations, and flat verses rough surfaces with ease and confidence. 

     Avoid using different paint manufacturers throughout projects whenever possible.  Different manufactures use different formulas of pigments and colorants to arrive at a specific hue.

     Keep a record of which colors (with color codes) and finishes that have been used in each room, ceiling and trim project within your home.  This will prevent you from using the wrong color and finish when maintaining or touching up surfaces.
